Overview

The Leadership Society of Arizona (LSA) is a 501(c)3 federal non-profit organization designed to help teenage students learn 10x faster, enjoy school, become better leaders, and minimize stress. Each year LSA facilitates several different summer courses that give students a crash course on a research-based and industry-tested leadership model from ASU (26 years and 2,000 projects). This model teaches students how to use deductive logic to set goals, solve problems, make decisions, and improve social skills. Over the last four years, LSA has increased summer attendance from 42 to 319 students! This year, LSA also offered its first-ever wilderness retreat overnight program.

Results

Each student completed a self-evaluation survey before and after the program. The surveyed measured key areas of personal development such as:

  1. Overall wellbeing (happiness, stress)
  2. Identity and confidence
  3. Accountability and personal control
  4. Capability to learn and change
  5. Mentoring and networking (asking for help, fostering and valuing relationships)

The table below summarizes the key aspects of the program. Additional information of survey results is available upon request.

Special Thanks

To help make this program possible, LSA received several donations from individuals and organizations. The largest donations for food related items came from PepsiCo and Frito Lay.  Scholarships for Financial Aid came from IFMA Phoenix and Walmart.  Every day, program participants stayed active and energized due to the generosity of these companies. More than just providing snacks, refreshments and scholarships, these donations show the students that companies care about their future success.
